Sarah Navasse Miller

Sarah Navasse was born in France in 1985, into a family of master glassmakers, where she grew up in contact with stained glass, a field between art and history.

At the heart of her practice is an interest in gesture and the body language of the human figure, with the conviction that the body expresses itself before speech, and that drawing human beings sends us back to the world to which we belong.
Aware of the long history of figuration, she constructs her images by mixing historical references with particular fragments of everyday life, creating new versions of past histories.

She moved to Paris after graduating in Fine Arts from American University (Washington DC, USA) in 2011. She became a Member of the French Academy in Madrid in 2014, obtaining a one-year residency at Casa de Velázquez.
