Habibi, the revolutions of love : Institut du Monde Arabe, Paris.

27 September 2022 - 19 March 2023

With works by Aïcha Snoussi & Alireza Shojain.

How are sexual and gender identities represented in contemporary art? How do they circulate? What aesthetic strategies do they deploy to describe and confront societies? Photography, painting, video, performance, literature, animation...: the artists have their say, and their singular narratives sketch out their doubts and fragilities.

Continuing the IMA's tradition of showcasing the 1001 facets of Arab culture and creativity, "Habibi, les révolutions de l'amour" (Habibi, the revolutions of love) presents 750 m2 of recent works focusing on LGBTQIA+ identities. These new perspectives forcefully express the social, personal and aesthetic questions that run through contemporary creation.
